Holiday Ireland Hotels News, always at the forefront of innovation.

Celebrating 30 years in business

Last January the company celebrated 30 years in business, no mean achievement for any company, and enjoyed a marvellous night out with tour operators staff and directors. Eliz Fahy Managing Director gave a very sincere speech and the chairman followed with some amusing memories from the old days.

Holiday Irelands first fam trip in 2007 and looking forward to 2008

We don't waste time, David Roberts our UK sales manager arranged a formidable group of tour operators to come over and see some of our member hotels recently and also to sample some of the courtesy and kindness of the Norfolk Line Ferry Company. This was a great success and many were very impressed with the ease and relaxation of a trip from Liverpool right into the heart of Dublin and of course, the coach driver was able to have his full quote of rest hours as well, lots of singing and dancing over the few nights in Waterford and cork but of course what goes on tour stays on tour, so all we can do is produce a nice photo of the group featuring of course David Roberts and Brenda Byrne our central office general manager.

The group visited the brand new Whites Hotel in Wexford, simply fabulous, and owned by the groups chairman Michael Burke and one of our directors Jim White. This hotel not only offers the best in accommodation and food but also has two spas, one for the people who want leisure and one, the only one in the country, that specialises in treating sports injuries and arthritis sufferers, it is fast becoming a mecca for many high profile UK football teams and of course our own Gaelic and Rugby teams. The group stayed in the Grand Hotel Tramore, family run hotel overlooking the sea. Entertainment was provided and a good time was had by all.

Fam Trip 2007

Fam Trip 2007

Lunch was sampled by the group in a variety of hotels from Dooley's hotel in Waterford city centre, another lovely quality three star hotel with a vast reputation for its food, the Blarney Woollen Mills Hotels by the famous Blarney Castle where a lot of our fam trip got the 'gift of the gab' by kissing the Blarney stone, to the Castle Oaks House hotel in Limerick a typical country house manor over looking the river Shannon. This lovely hotel is an ideal base for a tour to visit the west of Ireland..

The group also stayed in the family run and owned Westlodge hotel in Bantry, West Cork, and overlooking Bantry Bay. This hotel has its own tennis courts, leisure complex, cottages on the grounds, secluded walks, and pitch and putt course for guests. It specialises in fresh fish and the staff are particularly friendly and welcoming..again an ideal base for touring Cork and West Cork for a few days for your next tour to Ireland.

Finally the group visited the Regency Hotel for a drinks reception and some snacks. This 3*** quality hotel is conveniently located between the airport and the city centre.

Holiday Ireland and Northwest region continue co-operation

Holiday Ireland and Northwest Region

Esther, Eliz, Paul & Brenda

Our picture shows Esther O Donnell, Paul McCloone, Elizabeth Fahy and Brenda Byrne cementing their continued agreement to co operate and join forces for 2007 in marketing and raising the profile of the north west region. Managing director Elizabeth said that holiday Ireland had become in the forefront in marketing this region and her sales director in France Genevieve le Loup was the acknowledged expert in northern Ireland. Many French tour operators seek out her advice when planning a programme or new tour to the northern region.

Elizabeth also said, that this region represented to her...the hidden Ireland, a jewel waiting to be discovered, unspoilt scenery, lovely people, superb hotels and fabulous visits to museums, potteries, national parks and much much more.

Eliz & Brenda set off to far away lands!

Holiday Irelands co operation with Norfolk line ferry company is going from strength to strength. On a recent tour of their ships Eliz and Brenda were very impressed by the high quality of everything on board. Furthermore, Brenda brought the rest of the holiday Ireland staff over for a visit to Liverpool, home of the Beetles for a night out on the town before arriving back in Dublin port with Norfolk after a full irish breakfast in time for work the next morning, they were all very impressed.

Stena and Holiday Ireland Join Forces in France..

Utilising holiday Irelands sales manager Europe Genevieve le loup, Stena have appointed Genevieve as their GSA for France. Living just an hour from Paris and having her office there as well is of course an ideal situation for both companies. Genevieve, at a recent press conference, said that the two companies work very closely together and, she added, going in to see an agent about Holiday Ireland Hotels is also very useful for Stena as I can encourage the clients not only to use our hotels but to use us for the access travel also.

New News in Holiday Ireland

Holiday Ireland Goes Green

Holiday Ireland goes green. Early in 2008 we are going to give all our valued clients overseas a unique Irish gift in appreciation of the business they have sent us. It will be an oak tree planted in their honour and dedicated to them in the lovely site at Drumconwell overlooking the historical and picturesque city of Armagh. Each oak tree will have a number attached and the name of the company entered into a massive Tree Ledger.

Each operator will then receive:

  • A numbered certificate of dedication
  • A frame ready photograph of the trees growing on the site
  • A personalised letter detailing the oak tree dedication

We are so happy to be able to do this knowing that planting trees can offset our carbon footprints but also that 10 percent of the proceeds goes to the Marie Curie cancer research foundation.

Holiday Ireland Launches New Cook Book

The managing director of holiday Ireland feels it is high time that there is more attention given to dining and wining in hotels rather than restaurants, and to this end is launching a new cook book called SPECIALITIES OF THE HOUSE, in which there will be a signature dish and receipe displayed from hotels all round Ireland on one page and a little bit of history and folklore on the other side from the area the hotel is situated in.

Recently John Gormley, Minister for the Environment endorsed an innovative green initiative by Holiday Ireland Hotels and Rooted In Ireland by planting an oak tree as part of a forest re-plantation project..

Rooted in Ireland site where the trees are being planted is set in Armagh and the primary objective is in the planting of trees in honour of any chose person or company. Currently there are 1700 trees planted with a further 2000 planned for the end of October. They have made provisions to plant 10,000 trees in total after which the plan is to develop the site in Armagh into a "green friendly" visitor centre.

Holiday Ireland are the first company of its kind from the south of Ireland to get involved with sponsorship of the forest plantation.

They are planting oak trees as a way of thanking their International Tour Operators for their valued business which has aided the growth of Irelands tourism trade. It is also helping to develop and sustain Irelands natural environmental landscape as a premier green tourism destination, while of course developing cross border relations north and south.

Paul O'Toole, Chief Executive Tourism Ireland said he would like to see other tourism companies following on the "green" footsteps of Holiday Ireland Hotels.
